BACKGROUND OF ECO-CHALLENGE

The original concept of this program is to find the best solution towards a more efficient use of energy for vehicles. Competition which was initially organized to challenge the engineering knowledge to the students and at the same time encourage the development of new technology. 

The tournament is challenging engineering students to design, build and compete with machines that can go the furthest with a 0.5 liter petrol. This competition will provide an opportunity for teams from the universities to demonstrate and prove their engineering expertise and innovation against teams from other institutions. For automotive companies, this tournament is an opportunity to further identify potential recruit graduates to work with them.

The tournament has received widespread coverage of the entire IPT of Malaysia where the number of relevant web sites is increasing. In addition the local print media coverage of the competition showed more popular among fans of motor sports in Malaysia. Although competition is not a speed race, but the extent to which the ability to go with a petrol engine which is restricted to be an attraction to students.

In addition, results from this program will also help contribute to promotional activities and exhibitios through the involvement of the faculty and university produced the race in a national exhibition of research productes such as the Exhibition of Invention, Innovation and Research 2011 and the Exhibiton during the UTeM Convocation Festival 2011.
